This morning I read an article in the New York Times which revealed Indian government figures showed 17,107 of India's farmers committed suicide in 2003. Two major contributors to this national disaster were unsupportable debt and crop failures. One of the major contributors to the debt was multinational corporate agriculture. A wise Indian government will outlaw this plague before it blankets the nation.

The military involvement with a Muslim insurrection in the south has to be troubling to them, and they want to open negotiations with the insurgents to work through the problems and come to a peaceful solution. Towards this end, the Thais have for the first time a Muslim General, General Sontai, controlling the military, and who appears now to be the new Prime Minister. Thailand being a mostly Buddhist Country, are very tolerant of minorities, and this would seem to be a better track to travel than trying to muscle through the issues using force, which is seen as not working and counter productive.

9/11 Five Years Later

Today, five years ago our great nation of freedom came under attack from a selective group of Islamic extremists. September Eleventh of two thousand and one was the first time since Pearl Harbor that an attack was carried out on American soil in such an enormous scale. It was an atrocity against every American citizen whether you are a Christian, Jew, Muslim or of another belief, it was an attack to take away your freedom...an attack against your right to choose your lifestyle, your way of living life and yes, your well being.
